Benefits of Dry Brushing Your Skin

Dry Brushing Your Skin

Since our skin is the largest organ of thebody, we should take the time to treat it with lots of TLC. Skin is responsible for approximately ¼ of our body’s detoxification each and every day, primarily through the sweat glands. The process of dry skin brushing is a swift and powerful way to enhance the detoxification process.

It’s easy, pleasant and yields tremendous benefits.

Benefits of dry skin brushing -

      - enhanced blood flow to the skin's surface
      - anti-aging through cell renewal
      - reduction in cellulite
      - stimulation to the lymphatic, nervous and circulatory systems
      - opening of pores, allowing the skin to perspire more easily
      - stimulation oil glands, bringing more natural oil to the surface
      - enhanced skin tone and texture
      - it feels great!

How to -

Use a natural loofah or natural bristle brush with a long handle so you can

reach your entire back. Don’t use this brush for regular bathing though, as you want it to remain dry.

If you have lotion or oil on your skin, rinse it off entirely in a shower and then dry your body.

Start at your right foot and lower leg, brushing up, in the direction of your heart, brushing both the front and the back of your leg. Follow with your left foot. Then move to your right arm, working from fingers toward the shoulder, then left arm, your back, belly, then the neck and chest, avoiding the nipples.

Use long, smooth strokes as you brush, with light pressure. This process should not be uncomfortable!

You may dry brush between sessions in the sauna as a very efficient way to cleanse your skin and assist toxins to escape through the skin's pores. You can even dry brush before every shower, regardless of sauna use.

Caution- if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, or heart disease or if you have skin irritations, infections, or broken skin, do not use this technique.
