A JOURNEY OF INNER & OUTER FORM
To look at Lorna Kleidman, you wouldn’t know that her greatest triumph is not visible to the eye. There is a long journey behind her story, creating a testament to the power of the human spirit. For it is Lorna’s passion and perseverance that has molded her not only into a champion of her sport, but more importantly, an example of personal determination.
As a child and young adult, Lorna suffered from debilitating exercise-induced asthma. Because of the disease, her lung capacity was extremely limited, preventing her from fully participating in any recreational activities. Joining a gym and taking aerobics classes in her twenties was a major challenge. For over 12 months she remained in the back of the fitness studio close to her inhaler, while trying to keep up with the classmates twice her age. Through sheer love of fitness and movement, the asthma gradually abated, over the course of many years.
Kettlebell workouts eventually captivated Lorna’s interest and passion, as she began training for the competitive sport of Kettlebell lifting. She did not set out to be a champion or a particular dress size, just to be better each day.
With this, Lorna rose to the challenge of a new physical activity, and after 2 years of intensive kettlebell training, she participated in her first International competition at the age of 42, winning Gold in her age category and Silver in weight category. Since 2007, Lorna has competed in many National and International meets, winning Gold or Overall for women in each as well as a World Record in 2011. Despite her health history, despite her age, despite her newness to the sport, her inner spirit drove the strength of her outer form.
While her athletic achievements are impressive, the far greater contribution Lorna offers to everyone in her presence is the spirit and passion for embracing new challenges at every point in life.
Today Lorna’s passion is given to inspiring her clients to reach their own potential through KettleX personal training, sport coaching and seminars.
