There is Purpose to all Struggles

Upon his daily walk, a man found the cocoon of a butterfly. A few days later, he observed a small opening that had begun, so he sat and watched the butterfly as it struggled for several hours to force its body through that little hole. After a while it seemed to stop making progress, it appeared it had gotten as far out as it could.

Deciding to help the butterfly, the man took a pair of scissors and snipped away the remaining portion of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged quite easily, but it had a swollen body and shriveled wings. The man continued watching the butterfly because he expected that at any moment the wings would expand and be capable of supporting the body once its swelling went down.

Unfortunately, neither of these things happened. Sadly, the butterfly spent its whole life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings, never able to fly.

What the man, in his kindness and haste, did not understand was that the constricting cocoon and the struggle to get through the tiny opening are nature’s way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings and legs so that, in time, it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom.

Sometimes struggles are exactly like this process. They’re not pleasant when we’re going through them, but the result is that we are stronger, wiser and a better version of ourselves than before. If we lived life without obstacles, it would cripple us as well.

Remember – go through it, grow through it!

How would it feel to be Strong, Leaner, and more confident in your body?
